This spectacular long-flowering clematis blooms prolifically from early summer into early autumn, producing quantities of big, creamy white flowers with violet-purple centres. It looks superb trained over an arch or against a trellis in a sunny spot. The flowers are followed by attractive fluffy seedheads.

Planting tips and hints:

Planting in the ground: Dig a hole approximately twice as deep and 3 times as wide as the plant’s rootball. If your soil is heavy mix in a before backfilling. Plant clematis deep, with the crown of the plant at least 5-8cm (3in) below ground level to encourage bushy plants. Firm the soil around the plant and water thoroughly. Clematis prefer their roots to be cool, so plant with the roots in shade or shield them by placing tiles or stones around the base of the plant.

Aftercare

Water regularly in the first year after planting and in dry periods

Group 3 clematis: In the first year after planting, prune hard in early spring, cutting back to above a strong pair of buds about 30cm above ground level. Prune established plants in late winter or early spring, cutting all stems to just above strong buds 15-30cm above ground level.
